The group of options that manages basic network settings.
Internet Protocol
The subgroup of settings controls IP.
Bind to local IPv4 interfaces
Select this option to allow Syslog Watcher to collect syslog messages over IPv4 protocol.
Bind to all local IPv4 addresses (0.0.0.0)
0.0.0.0 is a special IPv4 adddress that means ANY IPv4 address. Select this option to allow Syslog Watcher to listen to all local IPv4 interfaces.
Bind to specified IPv4 address
Select this option to collect syslog messages on a particular IPv4 local interface.
Bind to local IPv6 interfaces
Select this option to allow Syslog Watcher to collect syslog messages over IPv4 protocol.
Bind to all local IPv6 addresses (::0)
::0 is a special IPv6 adddress that means ANY IPv6 address. Select this option to allow Syslog Watcher to listen to all local IPv6 interfaces.
Bind to specified IPv6 address
Select this option to collect syslog messages on a particular IPv6 local interface.
You have to select at least one (IPv4/IPv6) protocol to enable message collection.
Transport Layer
The subgroup of settings controls transport protocol settings.
Receive syslogs over UDP on port X
Syslog over UDP is a default implementation. Select this option to allow Syslog Watcher to recieve syslog messages over the particuler UDP port. Default UDP port is
514 (RFC3164).
Receive syslogs over TCP on port X
Some syslog sources send syslog messages over TCP for more reliability. Select this option to allow Syslog Watcher to recieve syslog messages over the particuler TCP port. Default TCP ports are 514, 1468.
You have to select at least one (UDP/TCP) protocol to enable message collection.
